Güneşin altında yeni bir şey yoktur derler... Peki ya yeraltında? Tam da Val McKee ve Earl Basset Nevada’nın ıssız Perfection kasabasından ayrılmaya hazırlanırken yeraltından gelen garip sesler ve titreşimler ayrılmalarını geciktirir. Güzel bir sismoloji öğrencisinin yardımıyla bu olayları araştırmaya başlayan ikili, kasabanın altında bir grup insan yiyen dev yaratığın yuvalandığını öğrenir. Artık zamana karşı yarış başlamıştır. Kasaba halkı uyarılmalı, yaratıklar alt edilmeli ve yüksek yerlere göç edilmelidir. Hem de en kısa zamanda!
