Ozet
Ben-Hur Yahudi varlıklı bir prens, aristokrat, tüccardır. Üvey kardeşi Romalı Messala ise görüşmedikleri yıllar boyunca yüksek kademeli bir Roma hakimi olmuştur. Kudüs’ten uzak kaldığı uzun yıllardan sonra buraya dönen Messala, artık Roma ordusunun komutanı olmuştur. Yahudilerin özgürlüğü için canı pahasına mücadele eden Ben-Hur’dan, çocukluk arkadaşı Messala tarafından, Romalıları eleştiren yahudileri teşhis etmesi istenir ancak Ben-Hur kabul etmez. Messela onu kürek mahkumu olarak sürgüne gönderir. Bunun üzerine arkadaşı Zengin hayatına veda eden prens bu olay üzerine intikam yemini edecektir. Bu andan sonra hayatı büyük bir maceranın içinde kaybolur...
