Ozet
Genç bir kadın aşık olduğu yakışıklı Maxim De Winter'la evlendikten bir süre sonra Maxim'in eski eşi Rebecca'nın birkaç ay önce gizemli bir şekilde ölmüş olduğunu öğrenir ve kocası ile olan ilişkisinin her zaman Rebecca'nın gölgesinde kalacağını farkeder. Film boyunca adı telafuz edilmeyen kadın, aynı zamanda kendisini evin yeni kadını olarak kabul etmek istemeyen hizmetçi Mrs. Danvers'ın kıskanç ve takıntılı tavırları ile başa çıkmak zorundadır. Alfred Hitchcock'un Daphne Du Maurier'ın bir romanından uyarladığı Rebecca yönetmenin aynı zamanda ilk Amerikan yapımı filmi olma özelliğini taşıyor. 1940'ta En İyi Film dalında Akademi Ödülü'nü kazanan filmin yapımcısı David Selznick'in bir önceki filmi Rüzgar Gibi Geçti de, aynı dalda ödül sahibi olmuş ve efsaneleşmişti.
