Ozet
Bir uzay gemisi içinden çıkan üç astronor aslında insana benzeyen maymunlardır. Cornelius ve Dr. Ziraya ek olarak bir de Dr. Milo'dan oluşan mürettebat incelenmek üzere Los Angeles Hayvanat Bahçesinde müşade altına alınır. Maymunlar yavaş yavaş tüm yeteneklerini sergilemeye ve yaşadıkları hikayeyi özetlemeye başlarlar. Gerçekten de gelecekten, 3955'ten 1973'e dönmeyi başarmışlardır. Yok olan bir dünyadan geriye kalan canlılardır onlar. Dolayısıyla şimdi geleceği ve insan ırkını bekleyen tehlikeyi de bilmektedirler. Kediler ve köpeklerin bir salgın sonucu nasıl yok olduğu; insanların ev hayvanı olarak maymunları beslemeye nasıl başladıkları; maymunların zamanla nasıl zeka kazandığı gibi ayrıntıları, incelemeleri yürüten ekibi dehşete düşürür. Ekibin başındaki Dr. Hasslien, her ne pahasına olursa olsun dünyayı bu gelecekten kurtarmak için gerçekleri deşmeye başlar. Bunlar ne yazık ki maymun dostlarımız için çok da rahat bir hayata işaret etmemektedir.
