They all live in the same house. Our hero, his father-in-law, wife, children, and father-in-law's niece, Blue Stocking. The hero is punished for falling out of love with his wife. He drinks, realizing that he has failed as a person. A widower with many children, her first love, proposes to his wife. Blue Stocking suffers from loneliness. The girl announces that she is pregnant with the Hero's son. The father-in-law is going to sell the house.
