Ozet
ABD 'nin güney eyaletlerinden Georgia ile Güney Carolina'yı birbirinden ayıran Cahulawassee nehri üzerine bir baraj inşa edilmek üzeredir. Kısa bir süre sonra bu nehir ortadan kalkacak yerini de yapay bir baraj gölü alacaktır. Atlanta'lı doğa tutkunu Lewis ve üç şehirli arkadaşı,Ed Bobby ve Drew nehrin doğası sonsuza dek bozulmadan önce son bir kez kano ile nehri boydan boya geçmeyi ve bir çeşit macera yaşamayı planlarlar.Bu hafta sonu tatilinin her zaman golf oynadıkları hafta sonlarından farklı olmasını istemektedirler.Nehir boyunca ormanın derinliklerine doğru ilerledikçe doğanın güzelliği ile ters orantılı olarak yöre insanlarının pek de dost canlısı olmayan davranışları ile karşılaşırlar ve yolculukları bir kabusa dönüşür.
